Some dogs and/or some behaviours cannot be fully addressed with private lessons. The dog has too much history or there isn't enough time and/or consistency that allows you and your dog to make the necessary progress. That's okay. That's what our Board and Train Program is for.
A number of things contribute to what makes our Board and Train successful for truly changing a dog's behaviour:
One of the biggest things is understanding the dog as a species and the individual dog and meeting it's needs- that means physically and mentally. Often times, a dogs needs aren't being met and when we start to meet them, most behavioural problems start to diminish on their own and the training required to finish addressing it is significantly reduced.

By meeting needs that haven't been met previously and with consistent training in real world settings, we are able to give the dog much more predictability and when the dog can safely predict outcomes, they feel better and there is no longer a need for unwanted or dangerous behaviour. The first thing with every dog is getting to know them and building a trusting relationship. This requires clear and fair communication, structure, boundaries as well as, giving the dog the freedom and ability to express itself fully.
Boys in the Field
Board & Train graduate Cooper, the reactive Great Dane, enjoying a walk in the park with Levi's dog Django. Neither dog is in command here, they are laying down, content with their toys, showing they're comfortable being that close to each other with no input from the human.

As we establish a cooperative relationship, we take our training to the next level. By adding layers of difficulty, complexity and stress to our training it ensures that it will hold up in all environments and situations.
While there are times it is beneficial to train in a controlled environment, our clients live in the real world and the real world is everything but controlled or sterile so it is imperative that we get out into the busy, chaotic world as soon as possible to give the dog Real Life skills and "life proof" our training as best we can.

Our dog training adventures take us all over Barrie and Simcoe County- parks across the city, dog friendly stores, the downtown area and waterfront and when there's opportunity, events like the Farmer's Market, Barrie Air Show and Winterfest. We also meet up with other trusted canine professionals for safe exposure to neutral dogs.
As a dog lovers and owners and as a professional trainers, it is very important that we maintain the highest standards for healthy and safety, quality of care, husbandry, and, training for every dog we work with. We DO NOT take the responsibility of caring for another person's beloved dog lightly.
